Steeple Raising

On November 30, 2007 the construction crew raised the steeple on our new building.  Take time to read Pastor David’s article, posted below, about the significance of this event in our lives as members of AABC.

“But in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you” 1 Peter 3:15

I am sure you saw the steeple piercing the sky over on the hill this morning as you pulled up to L.C.A. What a beautiful sight to behold. I am praying that it will become a sign for this community and the world of the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. May it be a marker of hope for all who cast their gaze upon it. The bottom line is that we are getting very close to moving into this new Great Commission Center that the Lord has been pleased to allow us to build. An announcement of the date of our first Sunday in the new building is imminent.

Excitement abounds and rightly so, many of us have renewed energy that comes with heart racing anticipation. Let me suggest a way to channel that energy. Do not be like that child who abandons everything except for the all-consuming thought of opening presents on Christmas day. Do not allow your excitement and exuberance over the first Sunday in the new building to keep you from living out the reason we, by God’s grace, have built the building

When your heart flutters with excitement as you see the steeple, remember that it is there to point to Jesus Christ and His gospel, so find somebody to tell about Jesus. Do not wait for the first Sunday in the new building to invite that neighbor to church, do it now. When you find yourself daydreaming about what the building will look like when it is completed, pray for your co-workers to come to faith in Christ and think about what they will be like if they are reconciled to God. We must not let building a Great Commission Center distract us from doing the Great Commission right now. Looking Unto Jesus With You,Pastor David
